Drawing from their past release of cuts from their first album, the concept of bringing back a vinyl with deleted cuts for their second album was explored. Additionally, research into the band's lore-driven approach informed the development of a unique concept for the album cover design.
Key research also included exploring ways to make the vinyl cover a collector's item, such as incorporating thermal activation technology to create the appearance of bloody handprints. The album's lore, featuring murders linked by a common weapon, inspired the Buzzsaw vinyl design. Each vinyl's uniqueness and an accompanying "evidence file" added to its exclusivity and engagement potential. The research aimed to create an immersive experience for fans while staying true to Ice Nine Kills' brand and storytelling approach.
